M-x richard ;help I'm trapped in a minibuffer
Hello, and welcome to my humble little abode. Unless you're a hiring manager you probably won't find anything exciting here; check out the blog!
This is the part where I'm supposed to talk about myself. Fair warning: I'm usually pretty bad at that.
The Paragraphs
Depending on how HR is feeling I'm a software embedded computer engineer scientist programmer by day, Guile hacker by night. I enjoy solving problems that make me think and can only tolerate busywork in short bursts. Like all developers I have a backlog that grows faster than I can complete it.
For those who care I somehow managed to graduate college with two degrees, a Bachelor in Computer Engineering and a Bachelor of Art in Physics, which makes my resume very awkward. Everyone knows what B.A. Physics means but no one has a clue what B.C.E means. When I spell out one I feel obligated to spell out the other. It's a curse.
I know less than half of what I want to know half as well as I should, and I know more than half of what I know half as well as it deserves.
An easily digestible list
In no particular order, I enjoy these tools and topics:
- Guix
- Emacs
- Guile
- Ruby
- Rust
- C (Yes I know I'm weird...)
- Embedded Systems
- LaTeX
- Physics
- Build Systems and Toolchains
I loathe these with a burning passion:
- C#
- Windows (I sense a pattern...)
- Microsoft Teams oh my god please it's so bad send help
- The entirety of the MS Office Suite (There's definitely a pattern. At least LSP is good.)
- SVN
- Rust (Yes, I do realize this is listed twice.)
- Embedded Systems Vendors
- Bad Build Systems and Toolchains (Bad is recursively defined as something I dislike.)
Not tech stuff
Outside of tech, I enjoy
- Gaming (Metroidvanias, Roguelikes/lites, Team-based FPSes)
- Presenting/Teaching (A tech nerd that can talk?! OUTRAGEOUS!)
- Reading
- Attempting to be witty
- Vegetating
